These easy Bourbon Fresh Strawberry Push Ups will become your favorite (adult) summer treat for cooling off! So creamy and refreshing!
Can you take the heat? Do you want to cool down with a tasty (adult) treat? If you answered yes, then today’s recipe is perfect for you. These kids inspired push up pops are a great way to indulge in a frozen treat with just a hint of bourbon. Just one lick and you will be hooked!
I hope your summer is getting off to a great start. I’m loving the warmer (and hot) temperatures and enjoying spending time outside. This year I’ve been focusing on our yard. We’ve got all our flowers and plants in, mulched (about 30 bags worth) and I even made a small fairy garden under one of our trees. We had an old bird bath that I was going to sell but the had an idea to make the garden. It has a house, couple fairies, some small plants and stones for pathways. I can’t wait for our granddaughter to see it.
Of course after all that work outside, I wanted to sit on our deck, relax and enjoy a tasty treat. While a drink would have been just fine, it was even more special with these push ups. Just the right size and so refreshing.
As you will note in the instructions, do not make the strawberry push ups in popsicle molds.
Why do you ask? Well, when you add alcohol to anything that is to be frozen, you will find the mixture does not get rock hard. I was so excited to make popsicles but when I tried to pull them out, the sticks came out. So what was a gal to do? I scooped out all the mixture and place it in these push up containers. They turned out perfect – you can also use Dixie cups, as noted in the directions.

- 1/2 cup strawberry yogurt
- 3/4 whipping cream
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup pureed fresh strawberries
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 1/4 cup simple syrup
- In a medium bowl combine the pureed strawberries and simple syrup and then add in bourbon
- Whip the whipping cream
- In a large bowl mix together the yogurt, whipped cream and extract and slowly fold in the strawberry mixture.
- At this point I divided the mixture into plastic push up containers. If you don't have those, use small dixie cups and after two hours of freezer time add sticks and continue freezing another two hours.
Do not use popsicle molds as they will not pull out (believe me I tried!) The mixture has alcohol so they don't freeze to a very hard consistency. They come out firm but not rock hard in the dixie cups
