Easy Pear & Sweet Potato Soup

Easy Pear & Sweet Potato Soup | Cooking on the Front Burner

It's no secret that I love soup - all kinds, all ways, meat, meatless, slow cooker, etc - just as long as it doesn't have fish or tofu in it :)  I recently came across this recipe that really intrigued me.  Pears and sweet potatoes - it was a combination I haven't thought of before and eager to give it a try.  Not only is this super easy to make but it looks really elegant and like you fussed all day! It's a bit sweet, a bit savory but FULL of fantastic flavor.  Who's ready to grab a spoon and dig in with this Easy Pear & Sweet Potato Soup?

King Cake Donuts

Baked King Cake Donuts | Cooking on the Front Burner

Time flies and I can hardly believe that it is February.  It kind of snuck up on me!  Things I like about this month are:  winter is getting shorter, the days are getting longer, Valentine's Day is around the corner and Fat Tuesday is coming up.  It's time to have those last sweet indulgences before the season of Lent and these King Cake Donuts are a perfect way to celebrate the Mardi Gras season.  While the real tradition is a cake (which is actually a yeast sweet bread), homemade baked donuts are easier to make and we all know everyone loves donuts, right?  There is still plenty of time to bake this sweet treat and I'm sharing this recipe for my monthly post at Real Housemoms.

Sweet Potato & Black Bean Soup

Sweet Potato & Black Bean Soup | Cooking on the Front Burner

As January is starting to come to a close, there are still two things I've been pursuing this month.  One is trying to stay warm (hmmm, no brainer as I live in Minnesota!) and the other is continuing to eat on the healthier side.  I've been doing pretty good and hope to continue into the next month and beyond.  It's a habit I want to keep in 2016!  So today I'm sharing a new healthy Sweet Potato & Black Bean soup as part of the Eat Healthy 16 series where several bloggers have been posting healthier recipes all month - Jamie from Love Bakes Good Cakes (where you will find this recipe),  Brianne from Cupcakes and Kale Chips, and Jenny from The Melrose Family.  Eating lighter doesn't mean you need to skip on flavor and this soup has it all!  We are also giving away an awesome gift of  a Blendtec 725 (Valued over $750)

White Chocolate Creme Brulee

White Chocolate Creme Brulee | Cooking on the Front Burner

We interrupt your healthy eating habits to bring you a little dessert!  But don't worry it is on the lighter calorie side so it would be totally fine if you indulged in one of these tasty treats (plus I would never tell anyone!)  Creme Brulee is one of my go to sweets when we go out to dinner.  We have a couple fantastic restaurants in town that are known for these dinner ending desserts.  While I'm sure theirs are made with a lot more calories, this version didn't seem to skim on texture or flavor.

Have you been intimidated to try and make it at home?  Well don't be, this White Chocolate Creme Brulee takes about 20 minutes to assemble and trust me, it is not hard to do.  So, who's with me for taking a little detour from our resolutions?  What happens on the blog, stays on the blog!
