Best of the Weekend and Soup!

Stay Connected with Cooking on the Front Burner

TGIF - really and finally!  It's been a busy week and I'm looking forward to some R&R!  After I write this post this morning, I'm going to get shined up and go shopping!  Last Sunday I painted my living room and the color is called Warm Caramel.  So now I'm in the market for some new wall art, pillows, mantle decorations and drapes.  So that is why the DIY Guy goes nervous when I paint... it's not the $35 for the gallon, it's all the other stuff he says.  I have to admit I resemble that remark :)  But at least I'm not looking for new furniture!!

Shamrock Linzers with Lime Curd

Shamrock Linzer Tarts with Lime Curd

Top of the mornin' to you with these buttery and delicate shortbread cookies with homemade creamy lime curd!  Yes, it really is lime and since I don't live in a Dr. Suess world, I was unable to get some green eggs... lol.  I had to make due with yellow yolks!  Trust me though, one bite and you will definitely taste the tangy lime flavor!

Pear Gorgonzola Flatbread

Pear Gorgonzola Flatbread by Cooking on the Front Burner

Yum - your taste buds will thank you when you make this Pear Gorgonzola Flatbread.  And you might want to make it pronto!  Recently we went out to dinner with the "kids" at a local restaurant called The Yard House.  While we were deciding what tasty beverages we wanted, our SIL ordered a pear gorgonzola flatbread for us to munch on.  We all loved it and knew I could come close to making it at home.

Best of the Weekend and Citrus

Stay Connected with Cooking on the Front Burner

Today I have the winter doldrums... it's super windy, cloudy, cold and just that time of year where you are yearning for spring.  It's almost March and I hope we get an early one.  This weekend here in town is the ICE Social.  An outside event with lots of ice sculptures and ice bars.  It's definitely a pretty site and we've gone in the past but I'm not feeling it this year!  I think staying home and seeing what you link up is what I need for warmth!!

Pina Colada Donut

What's today folks?  It's the 12th and that means 12 bloggers, 12 recipes with 12 ingredients or less!  And yes, and this month was donuts!  I think you will be really wowed with what the other gals came up with this month.  Since I'm hoping for winter to be over, I went with this tropical delight - Pina Colada.  If I can't be sitting on the beach with the drink, I sure can be eating one of these donuts with my coffee and dream.  Right?  Maybe play a little Jimmy Buffet....

Sweet Potato Hash

Sweet Potato Hash

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day - or that's what I've heard! You too, right?  During the week for us it's a quick bowl of cereal and away we go to work.  On the weekends, I may still have that bowl but the DIY Guy is looking for something with more substance.  The recipe I'm sharing today came from a conversation with the administrator I work with.  She's a foodie like me and our usual Monday morning conversations go like, so how was your weekend and what did you cook?  She mentioned a sweet potato hash she's made a few times, so I decided to give it a try!

Best of the Weekend and Sweet Treats!

Stay Connected with Cooking on the Front Burner

Happy Friday!  I'm slowly getting back in the groove after being gone on vacation.  There's nothing like being in the sun, relaxing and spending time with good friends.  It's good for what ails you especially when the escape is to Mexico and getting out of the midwest.  I'm back to reality now and glad to be back full swing with BOTW.  On the co-host hunt, I'm happy to announce we have selected two new gals who will be starting with us next week.  Thanks to everyone who applied - we were blown away with the response and you made it tough for us.
