Weekend Round Up

>Lake Pepin - Lake City Minnesota

Hello - hope you had a good weekend and 4th of July!  I can't believe it is Sunday night, I was lucky to have off a 4 day weekend but I still wish I had one more day!!  Lots to do on my summer list.

We started out the weekend last Wednesday when some friends asked us to go to the restaurant Nosh in Lake City, MN.  It is really unique restaurant with great food located right on the water.  This picture was taken as we were leaving around sunset.  Oh, and if you aren't from around these parts - this is the Mississippi River.  The guys frequently go fishing here.

The next day we were invited to some friends for a 4th of July pool party.  I wanted to make something patriotic - what do you think of these?  I thought I had blue food coloring but I didn't so the DIY Guy suggested Blue Curacao liqueur and that worked just great (and tasted good too).

The main course was provided by our hosts called Spiedies.  I grow up with these in upstate NY and when we go back for visiting, we always stop at our favorite Char-pit for some.  Spiedies are local to this region (click here to learn more).

Lastly, Cheri made these awesome ice cream treats.... they were delicious!

Thanks Kirk and Cheri for having us over!

The rest of the weekend we spent working on house stuff.... and now I'm just finishing up laundry and cleaning up from dinner.... back to work tomorrow!  Can't wait until the next weekend :-)

What did you do??
