This week book club met to discuss our latest read The Light Between Oceans. While we all felt the book was an easy read, it got mixed reviews from the group. I personally thought it was OK and would give it 3 out of 5 stars. The book is about a lighthouse keeper, his wife and a baby that one day they find has washed up on shore in a rowboat and the decisions they made. One thing the book really had going for it, that we could all agree on, was the author did a fantastic job the the visual aspects.... very detailed and the surroundings seem to come alive while reading.
Our host for the night was Claudia and she set a nice, festive table with mini poinsettia plants she found at Trader Joe's (we were able to take them home-thanks!)
Dessert was a S'mores Coffee and Fudge Ice Cream Cake - it was delicious!
My job was to help watch that the mini marshmallows didn't burn under the broiler...
Now that we are back on track with our monthly meetings, we will meet again in mid-January and discuss this book. It will be our 38th!! I can't wait to start it and will be loading it onto my Kindle tonight!
