Odds & Ends

Happy July!!  I had the weekend off from the kitchen as our friends invited us to rest and relax at their cabin on Big Sauk Lake in Sauk Centre, MN.  And relax I did!  This was my view while I was reading -notice my toes :-)

And speaking of reading, as you know I am in a book club and in 2 weeks we will be discussing this book.  If I were you, I would run out and get it or download as soon as you can!  I loved this book!  I won't give one thing away - but it is that good!

Another book that I finished at the cabin this weekend was The Shoemaker's Wife by Adriani Trigiani.  It was the first of hers I have ever read and also greatly enjoyed this book... maybe because of my Italian heritage or living in MN or working at the Mayo Clinic... what a great story that made me smile, laugh and cry.  You might have to put these 2 books on your summer read list!

We headed back from the cabin around noon today and since tomorrow our first born is celebrating her 26th birthday, we stopped for a little celebration.  We ended up at a restaurant called Rojo at the West End in St. Louis Park.  It had great Mexican food (and tasty beverages!)

Delicious nachos

Shrimp tacos

Steak tacos

Happy Birthday Kristina!

We enjoyed our little get-away this weekend!!  It will be hard to get motivated and get back to work AND plan some meals.... I'll try though :-)

One more thing - Sue gave us this cute "goodie pail"  filled with treats!  I especially enjoyed the chocolate covered caramel with sea salt...
