Odds & Ends....

There won't be much cooking in the next week or so...  it's family wedding time and I'll be enjoying some warm weather and I'm sure some great food...

I'm sharing a couple pictures from our book club meeting last week.  The book we discussed was Astrid and Veronika and our host Anne provided a light meal for us.

Quiche Lorraine and Salad with pear, walnuts and gorgonzola cheese - both were excellent!

Some fun chocolates and Harry & David's Bing Cherries (like love them!)

Cranberry and Apple cobbler - so yummy!

Anne did a great job preparing our dinner and dessert!  Also, this book was liked by all and one of the most discussed book we have ever read.... (check it out here)  Our next book is called The French Gardener by Santa Montefiore.  However, before I start that one I am reading book 3 of the The Hunger Games trilogy... thanks Cheri for the recommendation - I can't put them down!

  1. Hi Deb,
I have a question for you......do you think the Hunger Games is appropriate for a fifth grader? I have a student reading it and am questioning the content for him.
    Thanks for any insight!

  3. Kathy, I think the books are marketed for teens but I think it is pretty violent at times. I like the story line but some of it was a little too graphic. Not sure if that helps or not and just my opinion.
